Tasty Tuesday: Beansprout Chinese Restaurant
This week I had the chance to try out Beansprout, which is located just across the street from Meredith College. This restaurant is certainly the place to go if you are looking for some authentic Chinese cuisine that won't break the bank. They offer a wide array of options ranging from soup all the way to Chow Mein. You name it, they got it!
Rest assured, they're open 7 days a week and even do take-out. The restaurant itself is also very easy to get to and offers a lot of parking options, which is a win-win in my book. They even have vegetarian options and their tofu is known to be some of the best in the area!
WHAT TO EXPECT
To put it plainly, this restaurant is a no-frills dining scene, but they do have quite a few authentic paintings and decorations along the walls like the one pictured here! It's also extremely clean and well maintained.
When I picked up the menu, to say I had a lot of options would certainly be an understatement! They have a great selection of lunch specials and combinations, which are perfect for those who are looking to save money. These specials last from 11:00 am- 3:00 pm and sit at around $5.00 a dish. Your meal even comes with egg rolls and fried rice on the side, which is really a bang for your buck!
TIME TO EAT
white rice. The staff were all very nice and they even brought my food to the table when it was ready. It was piping hot and, let me just say, that the first bite was nothing short of amazing. The chicken was crispy and exceeded all of my expectations. The portion size was also pretty impressive for the price considering I definitely did not leave hungry.
Interestingly enough, a lot of regulars say that the food here tastes similar to Chinese cuisine in New York City which makes it nothing short of a local gem in my eyes. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better though, I found a few fortune cookies at the bottom of my bag! These were a fun way to end my lunch and they gave me some food for thought as I went on with the rest of my day.

Overall, if you are craving some authentic yet affordable Chinese food, look no further. Beansprout is a wonderful local restaurant to support because of its pleasant staff and amazing food!
