Tasty Tuesday: Coco Bongo
This week’s Tasty Tuesday blog returns on National Nacho Day and what better way to celebrate than with a visit to one of Hillsborough Street’s Latin restaurants, Coco Bongo! Although Coco Bongo has only been around for about two years, they’ve built up a great reputation among students and professionals alike.
Walking into this restaurant, I immediately felt at home. The friendly staff greets you with a smile and an “Hola, Amigo!” before seating you with little-to-no wait time. While you look over the menu, you can’t help but look around the restaurant at all the decor. Their eclectic style of colorful artistic decor is fascinating to look at. They even show their Wolfpack spirit on the walls!
With their large array of Tex-Mex dishes, Coco Bongo has something for everyone. From quesadillas to fajitas, they’ve got you covered! If you’re looking for a smaller meal, they have delicious a-la-carte street-style tacos that you are guaranteed to love. Plus, with food specials almost every day, you don’t have to break the bank for a delicious meal.
I ordered their Nachos Supreme dish, and it didn’t disappoint. It was a huge (HUGE) serving of nacho chips, cheese, chicken, beef, beans, lettuce, sour cream AND guacamole. I added a little bit of their homemade spicy salsa and it was a total delight.
If you haven’t been to Coco Bongo yet, I definitely suggest you give it a try. Get your fiesta on!
Coco Bongo is open Monday-Saturday 11am-10pm and Sunday 11am-9pm.
